Corporate volunteerism has since brought to life new meaning in Hands On Manila Foundation, Inc.’s (HOM) vision of promoting volunteerism among communities and individuals. Sustainability became the key driving force in delivering volunteer service as HOM started 2016 with corporate volunteer programs that were initiated by its corporate partners from previous years. One of which was a volunteer project with an Aeta community in Porac, Pampanga, where ADP Philippines’ employee volunteers distributed portable solar lanterns and refurbished the locals’ daycare center. Volunteers also held an art & crafts workshop for the Aeta children, while their elders participated in the daycare center refurbishment. This activity was a follow through from ADP’s previous engagement in the community where HOM developed and implemented the “All Lights Village Program” for their volunteers. Activities of the same nature for different companies have also been lined up for the rest of the year, one of which will benefit a community in Nueva Ecija heavily hit by typhoon Lando in 2015. With the year off to a good start, HOM’s volunteer programs will continue to provide sustainable volunteering opportunities for corporations in tandem with its identification of poor and underserved communities who need the most help.
