In line with its mission to support environmental education, especially among children, Republic Cement Services, Inc. was proud to participate at Servathon 2019. Held at the PICC last Saturday, September 28, 2019, the event welcomed over 1,000 employee volunteers from 26 companies, including Republic Cement. With the theme “Hands on, Hearts Out for the Environment”, Servathon 2019 was organized by Hands on Manila Foundation, Inc. in partnership with the Asian Social Institute and the World Wildlife Fund.

Volunteers from Republic Cement hand-painted canvas string bags with the company’s environmental sustainability initiatives including tree planting, mangrove rehabilitation, recycling, alternative fuels, and green power. The canvas bags were then packed with educational materials such as interactive books and environmental teaching materials. Over 100 environmental hats were also hand-sewn by the volunteers to serve as engaging teaching tools for school children. The canvas bags and environmental hats will then be distributed by WWF to teachers and students at its beneficiary schools around Metro Manila.

Republic Cement Commercial Director for Visayas and Mindanao Michael Madayag received a plaque of recognition on behalf of the company. “Republic Cement is proud to be a part of Servathon 2019 as it upholds our mission to build stronger and greener communities,” Madayag Shares. “Through educating the youth on the importance of preserving the environment, we work towards securing the future by building a nation that empowers the children and educators of today to build a better, greener tomorrow.”
